Nudes and Skin Tones

Everyone has different skin tones. The trick is to find out which tone you relate to based on the undertones in your skin! Southern Living describes how easy it is to find your tone! Typically if you have a lighter skin tone, the undertones will be cooler colors. If you have darker skin the undertones will be warmer colors. However just your overall skin tone is not always the deciding factor.

If you look at the veins on the inside of your wrist, they can help determine if you have cool or warm undertones. Greenish ones reflect warm undertones while purple ones reflect cool undertones. There is another thing to consider in finding the perfect color to fit your skin, which is neutrals. Once you find the undertone, the color that works best for you will really POP!

“When it comes to nude lacquers, it’s important to remember that you aren’t trying to match your skin tone exactly—it won’t be the most flattering. Look for colors that are one to two shades lighter or darker than your tone.” -Southern Living

Laurie by Zoya was selected to represent the fair skin tone with the cool undertones. Laurie by Zoya can be best described as a light, pale shade of cherry blossom pink with a soft creme finish. A delicate floral shade for an effortlessly feminine look.

A French Manicure With A Twist at Sachin & Babi

We love the unique inverted French manicure done at Sachin & Babi. Follow the instructions below from the Pittsburgh Gazette to try the look at home!

This manicure uses Zoya in Courtney and Zoya in Brooklyn. Courtney can best be described as a deep beet root shade, whereas Brooklyn is a glimmering white-gold metallic. These rich shades will make any nail look pop!

MASTER THE LOOK:

1.) “Apply two coats of gold to full nail — allow ample time to dry in between coats

2.) Once gold polish is dry, apply two coats of red to the tip

3.) To heighten the drama, apply the red polish on an arch, rather than straight across the tip of the nail. Need a guide? Try using round notebook paper reinforcement stickers on nails to help polish go on evenly for all fingers.

4.) Once dry, apply top coat and enjoy!”

Looking for an a cool, but simple Fall nail art look? The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette loved the Zoya nail art at Nicole Miller! Read on for the steps from manicurist, Holly Falcone, on how to get the look at home!

“Nail designs that emphasize the “art” in “nail art” will be having a moment.”

1.) “Paint a cross in Ireland (or another color of your choosing) in the middle of the nail

2.) Leave a space and trace each edge of the cross with a contrasting color (Arizona)

3.) Fill in the space along the outer edge with the original color so that it matches the first cross

4.) Voila – you should end up with something that looks like an artsy maze”
